Training Packages
What is a training packages?
Training Packages bring together National Competency Standards, National Qualifications and Assessment Guidelines and a range of additional Resources. The Training Package concept is to provide a "broad umbrella" for all industry sector/s to integrate their training plans.
All Training Packages include endorsed components listed:
- National Competency Standards
- National Qualifications
- Assessment Guidelines
Training Packages also include other components such as:
- Learning Strategies eg. Resources such as Trainer and Learner Guides
- Professional Development Materials, and
- Assessment Materials
National Training Packages are high quality, high profile products that form the basis for new Apprenticeships and for training the entire workforce. All training leading to qualifications is covered by the National Training Packages and in the delivery of competencies, utilise the assessment guidelines. The Packages sit within a more flexible and industry relevant regulatory environment; with the main quality assurance and regulatory features:
- Standards will be broadly based and user friendly,and appropriate to workplace delivery.
- Instead of focusing on accredited curriculum to guarantee quality, quality assurance will be output focused with Registered Training Organisations being registered on the basis of their ability to deliver competencies.
- Assessment will give way to assessment models developed by industry in partnership with Registered Training Organisations.
- Outcomes in terms of qualifications will be driven by the combination of competencies attained. These employment based training arrangements will be possible at all levels of the vocational education and training component of the Australian Qualifications Framework.
Resources for tourism and hospitality
- Trainer and Learner Resources - As part of the National Training Package, support Training Resources have been developed by Tourism Training Australia, to spearhead effective, national recognised training content and delivery.
- For over 300 modules in hospitality and tourism, individual "off the job" Training Resource Manuals have been formatted in an effective and informative manner. Self paced learning materials are included.
- "On the job" Trainer Guides and Learner Guides have also been developed and will be distributed through Tourism Training Australia.
- A Workplace Supervisor and Mentor Guide to training and assessment.
- A Professional Development Kit for Trainers.
